We meet each Monday afternoon at the Jetty, Quay Lane, Sudbury town centre commencing play
from 1:30 and finishing at 4:30. Members may use the “free” car park available at either the Quay
Theatre {need to register on the pc when there} or at the Granary.
The group is based upon a social afternoon of Chicago duplicate play usual without physical
movement at the tables with all playing the same randomly dealt hands. It is not a teaching group
although analysis and discussions of play do take place at the individual tables. The group is of a
varied ability range and thus players of all abilities are welcome although a fundamental knowledge
of the game is required.
During the afternoon, an attendance register will be completed, and the weekly subscription will be
collected which is currently £3.00 per member which is to pay both the room hire fee and cover the
cost of general equipment and consumables.
Members may sit at any of the game tables and play with pre-agreed partners reserving their
partnership space until they too arrive up until 1:30 pm and then reserved partnership spaces are to
be filled with awaiting members without partners.
Members are not allowed to reserve/save table space for opponent partnerships. It is encouraged
not to play with the same table opposition each week and mix play within the group.
If the numbers of players are not divisible by 4, then 1-2 spare players are to split up and sit at full
tables making 5 players. In such cases where there are 5, one player in rotation is to sit out for 2No
hands in turn to allow all to have a game. If there three spare player’s the table will call for dummies
from other tables to fill a spare table for the bidding process.
It is noted that there are no refreshment facilities and members must bring their own refreshments
if required but there are toilet facilities within the Jetty.
We also hold a social meal event once or twice a year as a get to know event in the Summer and at
Christmas time at a local venue.
